“The most sacred relationship we can enter into is the one we have with our
bodies. it is the cornerstone to embodiment and presence.”
There’s no way around it: having a punishing or abusive relationship with our body is
going to result in chronic stress. It’s not our fault that we developed this way, but the
good news is that we are capable of changing those painful patterns and beliefs for the
better.
Unfortunately, we can’t just think ourselves into presence and embodiment. Meaningful
healing comes at a slow and steady pace as we learn about the nervous system and
incorporate a gentle daily practice to compassionately tune in to the body’s natural
sensations and process emotions.
Join us in this episode of Trauma Rewired, where we explore how our relationship to
our body plays out in the nervous system, and how these patterns impact mental and
physical health.
Episode Takeaways:
● How do we define mental health? How does it relate to physical health?
● Trauma, sensory system deficits, and dissociation are key components
underlying a toxic relationship to the body.
● How do perfectionism, hypervigilance, and disordered eating habits play
out in the nervous system?
● Belief rewire and the importance of learning how to listen to and honor the
body’s true capacity.
● How a consistent daily NSI practice can help those who feel disconnected
from their body reintegrate and cultivate presence in a meaningful and
sustainable way.
Unpacking the antagonistic relationship to our bodies through the NSI framework allows
us to reframe unhelpful and untrue beliefs about ourselves and provides the tools to
repattern resulting painful outputs.
